Named after the Maa word for “meeting place,” Natumoi is a sanctuary where families reconnect with what truly matters. Sam and I wanted to create a place where our children could grow up experiencing the Mara the way we had come to love it. Wild, curious and deeply connected to the people and landscape around us. Life in Nairobi is busy. We both run businesses and spend much of our time moving between meetings, travel and the demands of everyday life.
Natumoi was built as a counterbalance to that. A place where families can slow down, reconnect and share time together in a way that is increasingly rare in modern life. The architecture draws inspiration from the circular form of traditional Maasai mud huts, reimagined as a contemporary bush home. Many of the materials and details come from Kenyan artisans and brands we admire. From beadwork crafted by Maasai women to furniture and textiles made locally. It is not designed to feel like a hotel. Children run between rooms. Friends gather at the bar. Wildlife moves quietly through the landscape around the house. For us Natumoi is a place to build memories as a family. We hope it becomes the same for yours.
Natumoi was born from a vision of connection, curiosity and comfort. Every corner of the house has been carefully designed to reflect the landscape, the culture and the spirit of the Mara. From the timber and stone finishes to the bespoke furniture, lighting and artwork, each element tells a story. Thoughtful touches such as handwoven textiles, Maasai beadwork and locally sourced botanicals bring warmth and personality to the space. Natumoi is a home where design meets discovery, where detail invites exploration and where every space is crafted to inspire families to pause, connect and immerse themselves in the wild.
Every stay at Natumoi is privately guided and quietly shaped around your family’s interests and pace. Days unfold between moments in the wild, gentle exploration of the landscape, and meaningful cultural encounters, offering experiences that feel both iconic and deeply personal. Whether observing wildlife at sunrise, gathering around a fireside dinner, or spending time with local Maasai communities, each experience is designed to leave lasting memories for the whole family.
Begin your journey at Natumoi, where comfort and exploration meet. From quiet mornings by the river to guided bush experiences, our team helps shape a stay that reflects your family’s pace and curiosity.
At Natumoi, connections extend beyond our walls. We collaborate with local suppliers whose craft, authenticity, and sustainability enrich every experience.
African Originals provides the Mara Gin, infused with botanicals harvested by Maasai women in Enonkishu, while their beadwork adds a vibrant touch to our décor. Women in the Wild hand-crafted the bunkroom beadwork, blending tradition with playful design. Grounded and Siafu share their expertise in sustainable living and locally inspired creations, ensuring each item in the house carries a story of purpose.
By working directly with women-led businesses, we celebrate craft, empower communities, and preserve heritage. Every sip, stitch, and artwork at Natumoi tells a story of place, passion, and people. Your stay immerses you in the Mara’s wild beauty while supporting the extraordinary women who call it home.
